Resolution You Say?

New Year, New Me! I literally can’t stand that bulls***! I believe that people change over time and sometimes that process can be fast or slow, I just can’t seem to understand the whole “NEW ME” thing when a New year rolls around… am I wrong? I do understand the feeling of a re-write, that you can change the way you do things in a new year, spruce things up a bit and hit the highs but this new person isn’t going to happen over night right?

I don’t really believe in resolutions, I feel it puts pressure on people to achieve something straight away, while leaving you with a sense of guilt if you don’t “achieve” what you promised yourself you would do at the beginning of the year. I do however, believe in writing down goals and affirmations that are not just for the year but for your life ahead. So for me here are the five things I didn’t do enough of in 2016 and I do want to achieve them in 2017 and for the future too. Continue reading

The Plastics T-shirt seen on Nicola McLean

nicola-mclean-in-virgo-seven

I am so so excited about this great piece of coverage this week! As I am about to step in to the New Year, I have ended 2016 on a complete high! Seeing on of my t-shirts featured in the Daily Star  on Nicola McLean is massive for me! It is currently rumored that the blonde bombshell is about to step in to the Celeb Big Brother house and I could not be more excited to see how she gets on if she goes in there. I have been a fan of the show for the past couple of years and unfortunately didn’t get to see her the first time around in 2012.

So good luck Nicola! My vote is on you!

Loros Fashion Show

Loros Fashion Show

This year we have the pleasure of being able to attend the Loros fashion show!

Being held at the Athena in Leicester, not only will NKD Boutique be appearing in the show to around 1000 guests, we will also have a small stall where people will be able to shop the collection from t-shirts, sweatshirts and we will even launch our mug range on the night!

The Loros hospice means a lot to myself and my family as 7 years ago they looked after my Nana in her last moments, this was a hard and challenging time for the whole family which was made easier by those at Loros, so I am proud and excited to be apart of the show!

Please contact 0116 231 3771 for tickets if they are not already sold out!

My Top 5 Tips on Saving Money

Gold Candle Holders – TKMaxx, Leopard Print Candle Holders – Primark

As some of you may know, ok only if you are one of my friends reading this, then you will know I save hard as much as I spend hard! I’m not really a bargain hunter unlike my friend Rhea, she always finds the best deals she seriously needs to start a blog on it!

However saving is always something I have done since I was a little kid, when I would steal one and two pence pieces out of my dads coat pocket and claim them as my own! I still even have the red dustbin box I got for Christmas one year when I was around 6 or 7, which at the time was filled with sweets, but once it empty I promptly asked my dad to cut a hole init so I could start saving my pennies!

So here goes my top 5 tips!

1. Save the pennies – seriously get a money box, preferably one of those that you can’t open which are like £1 from the pound shop, especially if you like dipping into it if you need spare change! It may take a little while to save up but honestly I’ve just deposited around £170 worth of change back into my savings account **pat on the back for me**

2. Shop around – I myself rarely do this, and I only do it when I’m seriously in the mood and in desperate need/want of something, but shop around! Take a look at a few different websites/shops when you want something, especially if its expensive because more then likely you will find it cheaper somewhere else or find something similar that has better reviews. For example a few years ago when I was really into hardcore swimming, I wanted an underwater MP3 player. At the time the best on the market was around £50 way too expensive but after doing my research I found out it actually wasn’t that good and the cheaper version for around £20 was better and more cost effective for my budget!

3. Use voucher sites – Again not something I really do as I don’t tend to shop online all that often but when I do I’ll head over to Google and search voucher code for so and so website and usually something will come up. Another site I have recently joined up to is Quidco…you get money BACK for SHOPPING! I think it takes a little while for the money to go into you Quidco account but none the less just see it as another savings account!

4. Picking the right credit card – Well this one I suppose can be a tricky one as this post is really about saving money not spending it! Ha! However if you must have credit card – again – do your research as there is LOADS! If you like to spend the money and only pay a set amount back each month I would pick a 0% on balances so you don’t get stung by interest fees at the end of each month. However if you are a savvy credit card user and like to or can pay off the full balance of your credit card, firstly lucky you! (I rarely know a lot of people that do this) and secondly get a credit card where you get rewarded like a points card or cash back one!

5. Make lunch at home – Simple yet effective. You have probably heard this all before but seriously buying that £4 lunch from Pret everyday seriously adds up for example £20 a week or £1040 a year! This doesn’t even include that weekend Starbucks you treat yourself to every Saturday!

I do have at least 5 more but I realised this post was getting insanely long! What are your money saving tips?

Outfit and New Sofa

DSC00908 new-sofa-1 new-sofa-2 new-sofa-3Jacket- Wallis, Top- River Island, Scarf – New Look, Bag – Michael Kors, Sofa – DFS

Hello you lovely lot, this week hasn’t been as exciting as last weeks escapade to London, however it was my Mums Birthday on Thursday, so my Dad and I took her out to Frankie and Benny’s for a birthday meal and a dash around the shops at Fosse Park, which had to be cut short due to the weather! I’m so glad I had my New Look scarf with me to wrap around myself as it was super cold and windy that day.

Also this week I had the arrival of a new addition to my little place, I got a new sofa, which I had waited 5 weeks for!! It’s so plush and comfy I love it! My last one was a smallish corner one from Argos which I had had for 5 years and was practically on it’s last legs due to sleepovers and prancing around on it like a stage while I was still living in Derby! So it was definitely time for a new one and definitely no standing on this one!

As you can see from the foot stool I have started reading #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, I won’t go in to too much detail of what I think as I haven’t finished it yet and I will write a review post about it in the next week, however it has given me a bit of a kick up the bum with my own brand nkdboutique.com

NTAS & London

DSC00767 DSC00832 DSC00887So this week has been quite exciting for me, I got to take a trip to my favourite city in England… London! I had the amazing opportunity to go to the NTAS which was amazing!! (You can buy tickets to be in the audience! Who’d have thought?!?) It was amazing getting to see up close and personal, the people you let into your living room on a daily basis, and it was quite funny to hear other audience members calling the actors by their character names too! Highlight of the night, getting to see the one and only momager her self Kris Jenner (or is it Kardashian now?) and David Tennant who won the special recognition award!

My next port of call while in London was to check out Liberty’s, in all the times I have spent in London, the weeks doing work experience and the weekend trips away, I have NEVER ventured one foot into this very well known shopping destination (bad fashion lover!). However after watching Liberty’s on the T.V I realised this was one place not to be missed, walking around I realised “Yep, the tv makes EVERYTHING look bigger!!” I actually felt a little bit claustrophobic in there but it was wonderful, I just wish it hadn’t have been so busy in there so I could have a proper moment to take it all in!

Bitch Please You Ruined Your Tee

Bitch Please Tee – Nkdboutique.com, Clutch- New Look, Perfume- Boots

Here I am again…blogging…as promised! This week hasn’t been filled with much excitement to say the least. I had college Mon-Tues (currently studying hairdressing, but thats a whole other post) I finally came to (be-grudgingly) the decision to download Photoshop to my new computer, as it would seem you can’t cross over your license from  PC to a MAC! Annoyed wasn’t even the word! It’s just I’m so used to using the Abobe format I literally cannot be bothered to teach myself a new format, I did try though, honest! I downloaded Gimp (freebie) but I just couldn’t wrap my head around things that would be so simple in Photoshop but for Gimp would be a few extra clicks here or there. Not that I am a complete Photoshop whizz kid, it took me long enough to figure out the WordPress format! Ha!

However I did go out Friday night (it’s now Sunday & I have finally recovered!) and in a short last minute let’s go out panic, I decided I had nothing to wear *cough, cough*! I did but unfortunately for me none of it fits (again a whole other blog post) so I decided in my head that “I’m a creative type right?!” WRONG! Cut my Bitch please Tee and completely f**k** it up, whoops. So I had to dig out something else, I also got to wear my lovely new New Look boots
